Beauty is Big Business

We’ve been interviewed in the past about why women are always searching for the next best beauty product – the promised hope in a jar, the perfect lipstick shade, the most effective eye brightening cream, radiant blush for a super natural glow and the most seductive and sexy fragrance. Combine this quest with every cosmetic company’s race to  increase revenue and you have a beautiful and booming market sector. What are some of the newer breakthroughs and innovations in the beauty business for 2012?

We prefer a quick spritz, but look for Swallowable Parfum – a cosmetic capsule that enables human skin to emit a genetically unique scent about who we are and how we perform our identities.

Get Ready for Your Close Up with Fuji Film makeup

The technology used to keep films from deteriorating is similar to a method of slowing the aging of skin, explained a representative from Fuji Film in an interview about collagen, a key substance used to create both films and cosmetic products.

Fujifilm, an established manufacturer of cameras and other imaging and information technology products, is among noncosmetics companies that have ventured into the cosmetics market in an attempt to diversity revenue sources. Check out this white paper on Fuji Film’s Astalift Whitening Essence and click here for a peak at the entire collection in Asia.

Skin care, particularly the high-priced, high-tech variety

More high-tech formulations and gadgets that make it easier to look beautiful are entering the market. Perhaps it’s because retail lines like Cellcosmet, Erno Laszlo, La Prairie, La Mer, Clé de Peau, Sk-II, Sylvie Chantecaille and Nars faired particularly well this past year. Look for new high-tech devices that promise to bring the power of dermatologist treatments into the homes and hands of women everywhere –

Wrinkle reducer – Silk’n FaceFX  – a hand-held skin rejuvenation device that uses fractional infrared light phototherapy with thermal heating to achieve long-term radiant skin.  HF (Home Fractional) is the synergy of healing heat energy and optical energy combined to produce long-term clinical results. Available at www.silkn.com

Hair Remover – Silk’n Flash & Go Permanent Hair Removal system from the makers of Silk’n Sensepil promises to make removing hair from the face, under arms, legs, and other parts of the body simple, permanent and can be done in the convenience of your own home. Silk’n’s Flash&Go is a mid-sized handheld tool that is shaped like a laser gun, making it easy to grip and reach around the body.  www.Sephora.com

Hair Up to There

Year-after-year hair care styling sales demonstrate the ongoing quest  for hair styling products that transform a women’s hair texture. Gaining popularity – semi-permanent restructuring -enabling women and men to create  flip-outs and loose curls with the power of ceramic and ozone technology. Look for the digital perm and this spring, Nick Arrojo will launch the American wave, the Tribeca-based hair salon’s take on long-lasting twirls and curls.

It’s a Masquerade

Currently available in Sephora’s Meatpacking district and Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas,  Masque*ology claims to re-invent skin repair with their exclusive concentrated patent formulation Advance 7D Solution delivered in a unique syringe applicator.

Eco-ingredients with anti-oxidant properties like those found in monk’s pepper berry, apple stem extract, prickly pear and sea botanicals.

Color Me Happy —And finally, a color to energize our life and uplift our spirits –Tangerine tango – look for it everywhere this year, including lip and nail shades, adorned by celebrities on the red carpet and (yikes) on Ms. Hilary Clinton.
